New James Jeans!

Two new styles of James Jeans arrived today just in time to replenish our denim supply. One pair is a high rise, wide legged, thin denim pant with a nice thick hem at the bottom to keep yourself grounded. The other is a more casual denim back pocket bootcut in a nice faded wash (see pic).

More goodies to come this week: looking forward to a Theory delivery of tops, dresses, and pants and a Beth Bowley delivery of flirty dresses and skirts. Oh, and did I mention that we also resupplied ourselves with Hanky Panky boyshorts and thongs? The thongs are in crayola colors and the boyshorts in the basics: beige, black and white.

Also on tap, a Trina Turk trunk show in April. If you are not already on our email list, sign up now, because only customers with emails with be notified of this fab event. Cheers!

Buzz - Home Grown

Lucky Magazine had a field day on their field trip to Oakland last month, photographing and fussing over the wonderful selection of independently owned boutiques and we were lucky (no pun intended) to make the grade. Check the April 2008 issue of Lucky Magazine to read the review and consider shopping locally. While it's not a secret that SF just over the bridge has pretty much every department store and atelier known to humankind, there's nothing like knowing the owner of a store, or as one of our FAVORITE customer's noted, shopping here is "like going to Cheers...where everybody knows your name..." Cheers to our customers is what I say.

Click HERE for a downloadable map of the Oakland shopping guide generated by Lucky Magazine on their visit or HERE to see the photograph and write-up of iniam. Shop locally, dress fashionably.

Wide and Thin

To be wide and thin seems like a contradiction in terms, but then again, maybe you have seen our new denim pants from Hudson. I snatched a pair as soon as they came in because the denim is so thin and swooshy and makes me feel tall and thin like Lauren Bacall even though I'm only 5'2". The very kicky super wide leg is the newest denim phase to be sure, but I think this particular pant will outlast the fad. For every short girl alive who doesn't think she'll look good in these, trust me, you will. As a matter of fact, we sold out of them the first week we had them and reordered them (they are here now). And if you are tall, fear not...you'll look more glamorous than you probably already are.

These super wide leg pants are fitted through the hip, giving me a shape instead of looking like a giant rectangle of denim. They look swell with heels or even cowboy boots (which I roamed around San Francisco in one day). I love the light fabric because once you start humping up those SF hills, lighter is better. Trust me. Oh, and the girl in the photo, that's not me.

Iris it were summer

The color purple (not the book) arrived today in a flourish of Beth Bowley purple iris colored dresses and tops. The lined linen dress (pictured here in red, but ours is purple) fits like a warm summer breeze, of which we could certainly use more of...why did the weather suddenly get cold?? Sigh.

We also received two silk strappy tops, one in purple with a braided sash and the other is a cami with purple and red poppies.

Today I am also putting out some Indian-inspired gold and silver jewelry by local designer Vrinda Bhalla; her gold leaf earrings with a tiny diamonds are lightweight and just the thing to tickle your fancy and your neck. We are also drooling over her gold covered boho beaded necklaces which are on red or blue thread.

Easy come, easy go

I'm not sure what happened last week but no sooner did we receive our first shipments of Spring dresses but they were gone faster than you could say "gin and tonic please, no tonic." Thankfully, there are more to come like Beth Bowley's green midsummery dress (see photo) in verdant green and Trina Turk's infamous Bonita dress in buttercup colored cotton (see other photo). Mmmmmmmm...these dresses even look like a gin and tonic.

Speaking of Trina Turk, if you haven't already signed up for our email list, do so, because shortly we are hosting a Trina-fest - sort of a trunk show but sans designer - with racks and racks of Trina Turk...the only catch is, you must be signed up for our email list to participate.
